Charlie's Birth

Charlie was born by Ceaserian Section at Birmingham Women's Hospital at 9:32 this morning. He weighed 8lb 7oz (3.82 kg).

After having a bit of trouble breathing the doctors decided to transfer him to the ITU (intensive care). He was placed in an incubator and some blood tests and a chest x-ray were taken. By early evening the blood test results were back showing that there are no signs of infection but the x-ray showed some fluid in the lungs which eventually should be absorbed into the body without medical intervention. The doctors considered Charlie's breathing to have improved enough to be taken out of the incubator although he still remains in ITU tonight.

The story so far...

Up until now Oliver's & Charlie's lives have been chronicled in their own separate blogs:

From now on (now that Charlie has been born), they will be spending a lot of time together and their busy lives will be recorded in this new, combined blog.
